The largest and the capital city of Peru, Lima is in the valleys of the Chillón, Rímac and Lurín rivers, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Founded in 1535 by the Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro, Lima is a modern city but with high influence of the colonial architecture and many districts. It provides access to a stunning coastline, edgy art galleries, many monasteries, local Peruvian culture and food and structures of a glorious history.

Lima is the city to visit is you want to get close to stunning colonial architecture in a modern town. You can walk or bicycle in the town to better acquaint yourself with these sights. Don’t forget to try the local cuisine. It is best visit in the summers when there are many cheap flights to Lima.
